Lloyd Morrison

Historical Fiction

Lloyd Morrison has been captivated by history since boyhood. His fascination began during a family journey to Devon, when a stop at a castle—its name long forgotten—brought him face-to-face with medieval knights and archers (reenactors). That brief encounter sparked an imagination that has never dimmed, and from that moment he eagerly explored countless eras of the past.

In time, Lloyd became an active historical reenactor himself, particularly within the Wars of the Roses period as a member of the Duke of Beaufort’s Household. During these early years he began drafting a story that would later evolve into the prequel to his current series. His dedication to authenticity drew him to HEMA, where he studied historical manuscripts to understand how our ancestors truly fought with the sword. Alongside this, he developed into a keen horseman—his own horses now appearing in his fiction in their “ancestral” guises.

A chance encounter with a Sealed Knot event deepened his curiosity about Britain’s turbulent past. Discovering Mark Turnbull’s Cavalier podcast opened an entirely new rabbit hole, revealing that the 17th century—an era he had previously overlooked—was overflowing with drama, character, and rich storytelling potential. It proved the perfect, if daunting, setting for a sweeping family saga.

Raised in Chipping Sodbury, with the historic Little Sodbury Manor as a familiar landmark, Lloyd found an ideal foundation upon which to build his fictional world. His lifelong love of history, hands-on experience in reenactment, and passion for horsemanship all come together in the richly detailed narratives he now creates.
